Our Story

My beautiful Mum

Hi there!

My name is Yoyin and Sewa Skincare Co was inspired by my darling mum.

You see, as a child I had very bad skin rashes (dermatitis) resulting from food allergies. After unsuccessfully trying several over the counter solutions, my (pretty frustrated) mum sought knowledge from local African herb experts and formulated my skincare using natural indigenous African ingredients which worked amazingly well.

When I became a mom, I decided to follow my mother's tradition and formulated skincare for my daughters using her recipes. Soon enough, family and friends were asking me to share my creations and Sewa Skincare was born!

I truly love making and sharing my simple, effective formulations and I hope you love them as much as I do.

Remain beautiful!

Sewa Skincare Co. ... the making of beauty

Sewa pronounced (share wa), means to "make beautiful" in the native tongue of the Yoruba people of West Africa.

The word is made up of two words, "Se" meaning to make, and "ewa" meaning beauty. When combined they come together to "make beautiful".

All our products contain indigenous African ingredients and below are some of our favorites.

Shea Butter also known as the "women's gold" is extracted from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea Tree. This luxurious, deep penetrating butter is rich in vitamins and fatty acids.

Baobab oil is a luxurious, nutrient rich oil extracted from the seeds of the baobab tree. This plant-based moisturizer is rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin E, and omega fatty acids.

Cocoa Butter is a rich plant based fat extracted from cocoa beans. It is high in fatty acids and contains oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids, all of which nourish and deeply hydrate the skin.
